Rules & Policies
School holidays: We follow a four-term calendar year and offer a holiday program during April, June/July and October holidays. The holiday program consists of an informal program, but operational hours remain unchanged. We are closed for maintenance purposes for the last week of the July holiday and during the December holiday. We are further closed on public and special school holidays. These dates will be provided well in advance in order for parents to make suitable alternative arrangements.
Collection or pick up: We will not allow your children to leave our premises without written consent or arrangements made with the office in advance. If your child is going home with someone other than the persons arranged on the gate list, you will also be required to provide a copy of such person’s ID.
Personal items: All clothing, blankets, bottles, bags, etc., should be clearly marked with your child’s name. We do not accept liability for lost personal items. To avoid possible incidents, we request that our children bring no toys to school except their security blanket/taglet. The following items need to be placed in your child’s bag at all times:
- Three pairs of clean clothes
- a warm item
- sufficient nappies
- The correct amount of milk or formula – formula milk must be enclosed in a formula holder with the measurements for each feeding. Each bottle must be packed with the correct amount of water.
Injuries: Minor injuries and small wounds are cleaned, bandaged and recorded in the accident book, and the child’s parents are notified. In the unlikely event of a severe injury, it will receive immediate attention, and parents will be immediately informed. The first aid box is regularly checked and restocked. For extreme emergencies, the paramedics/ambulance will be contacted, and parents will be immediately notified thereafter. These costs will be for the account of the parents. If a parent is unable to accompany their child, a member of our staff will accompany them to the hospital.
Illness and medicine: Sick babies will not be allowed to attend MRBH. Please notify us if your child is sick and will not be attending on the relevant day. When we notice a child becoming ill, we will inform the parents and advise on whether the child should be collected. No medicine will be administered on the premises except in the event of an emergency, in which case the parent will be required to confirm in writing. Children are not allowed to attend while on antibiotics. Please keep your little one at home if any of the following applies to him/her:
- Poor appetite and unusual tiredness
- Fever above 37.5 degrees
- Rash
- Runny nose, which appears not to be clear
- Flu
- Croup
- Bronchitis / bronchiolitis
- Diarrhoea and/or vomiting
- Eye infection
- Head lice
- German measles (rubella)
- Baby measles (roseolla)
- Mumps
- Chicken pox
- Tonsilitis
- Jaundice
- Meningitis
All immunisations must be up to date, and we may request updated immunisation cards. School admission for sick children remains at the management’s discretion. This policy is in place to uphold a healthy environment for all children and staff of MRBH.
POPI Act: All personal information will be treated in line with relevant privacy legislation.
Birthdays: Birthdays are very important at MRBH, and we try to make your child’s day as special as possible. We, therefore, encourage parents to send cake or snacks for this special day so we can celebrate during snack time. Please feel free to reach out to us for party pack ideas or assistance.
Car seats and strollers: No car seats or strollers/prams may be left at our premises. This is for our children’s safety.
